Ndongondongo-moindo — literally "black dragonfly." The large biting horsefly; distinct from the hovering dragonfly (ndongondongo) by the -moindo (black/dark) qualifier. Bites are painful and bleed; livestock suffer greatly from horsefly attacks during the rainy season.
