yaka

YA-ka

come (imperative)

Generalverb

French: viens (impératif)

Yaka awa noki mpo na kolia bilei.

Come here quickly to eat food.

Viens ici vite pour manger.

Yaka — the everyday "come!" Said by a mother at the cooking fire, a friend at a doorway. In Lingala the singular imperative is formed by dropping the ko- infinitive prefix and keeping the final -a: koya (to come) → yaka. Almost every command in this dictionary follows the same pattern.
